Heroes of Might and Magic III: Przystań

Cove (Przystań) is an expansion for Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Board Game that brings in the pirates of Regna, here in the Polish edition. The faction comes from the fan-made Horn of the Abyss add-on, and Archon Studio created the board game version together with its developers. With it you get sea tiles, whirlpools, war machines, a solo campaign and scenarios for 2-4 players.

Sea, whirlpools and war machines

• Sea tiles - some fields are water, some land. Moving from land onto sea ends your hero's movement for the turn, so routes across the archipelago need planning.
• Whirlpools - link fields on different tiles. With three whirlpools on the map, a die roll decides where you come out, and every trip costs one unit from your army.
• War Machines - a new card deck you gain at the War Machine Factory or buy at a Trading Post.
• Weakness and Clone - attack penalty tokens and a spell that puts a 1 HP copy of a unit on the combat board.

Cove campaign and scenarios

The solo campaign follows two brothers from Regna across three scenarios: Evenmorn, In Search of the Horn and Treachery. For group play there is Strait of Storms in 2 vs 2 Alliance mode and two clashes: With Sword and Fire for two players and Blazing Archipelago for three.

Who it's for

Cove changes the map itself the most: sea and whirlpools mean the straight road to your goal is no longer obvious. It is a good pick for four-player tables or if you want a faction that was not in the original computer game. It requires the base game and pairs well with Stronghold (Twierdza) and its underground map.
