What toploaders are for

A toploader is a rigid, clear case that a card slides into from the top. The thick plastic encloses the card, keeps it clean and protects it from bending. Gamegenic names three main uses: mailing, storing and showcasing cards. When you sell or trade, a toploaded card survives the trip in an envelope, and in a collection it stays flat and unscratched.

Sleeved cards and 35 pt thickness

Exoshields are designed for sleeved cards, for example Gamegenic Prime or Matte sleeves, or Gamegenic standard card game sleeves (colour code: grey). The sleeve holds the card in place and protects its corners as it slides in. The toploader takes cards up to 35 pt thick, and the producer recommends it for trading cards such as Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon TCG or Flesh and Blood.

UV protection and material

The walls are UV-protected, so a card standing on a sunlit shelf is better shielded from fading. The material is extra clear, and each toploader has a protective film that keeps the surface scratch-free in transit. According to the producer's specifications, Exoshields are made of PVC. Our card protection guide explains how to combine toploaders with sleeves and boxes. Prime sleeves, which the producer pairs with Exoshields, come in the Gamegenic Prime Double Sleeving Pack, among others.
