Riftbound Proving Grounds is the box set that gets a whole table playing Riftbound, the League of Legends trading card game from Riot Games. It holds four ready-to-play decks built around Annie, Master Yi, Lux and Garen, so two, three or four people can start a game straight out of the box with no deckbuilding.
- 4 preconstructed decks, each with a Legend, a 40-card main deck, 12 runes and a battlefield
- 4 acrylic champion figures for tracking the score
- 2 to 4 players, including 2v2 teams
- English-language cards
What's inside Proving Grounds
- 4 starter decks: Annie, Master Yi, Lux and Garen
- each deck: 1 Champion Legend, 40 main deck cards (including your Chosen Champion), 12 rune cards (6 each of two domains) and 1 battlefield
- 4 acrylic champion figures with double-sided expressions: happy when you're winning, grumpy when you're not
- 4 player boards
- How to Play guide with deck notes and upgrade suggestions
The box contains 24 cards printed for Proving Grounds that are not part of the Origins booster set.
The four decks and how they play
- Annie (Dark Child Legend, Fury and Chaos runes) - fast units and burn spells, finished off by her signature card Tibbers. The Legend gives you extra runes every turn.
- Master Yi (Wuju Bladesman, Calm and Body runes) - a patient late-game deck whose units are strongest when defending a battlefield alone.
- Lux (Lady of Luminosity, Mind and Order runes) - a spell deck: Singularity and Final Spark reach enemies anywhere, and the Legend keeps you drawing.
- Garen (Might of Demacia, Body and Order runes) - a wide army with Recruit tokens and Decisive Strike, rewarded with extra draws for conquering.
Each deck brings its own battlefield: Void Gate, Fortified Position, Startipped Peak and Trifarian War Camp. The guide also introduces mechanics you'll meet in later sets: Gear, Hidden, Stun and Buff.
Game modes for 2, 3 and 4 players
Proving Grounds covers every core Riftbound mode. Two players can play a Duel to 8 points or a best-of-three Match. Three or four players go free-for-all, and in 2v2 Teams one team plays to a combined 11 points. The acrylic champion figures help you track the game, and their faces show at a glance who is ahead.
Who it's for
This is the easiest way into Riftbound: four balanced decks you open and play, plus a guide that walks you through the first games step by step. It works for League fans who have never played a card game and for anyone who wants a four-player game in one box. When you want more, upgrade the decks with booster cards, using the suggestions in the guide.
Prefer a single champion deck to build on? See Champion Deck: Vi. For two decks made for head-to-head play, see Showdown Decks: Zed vs Shen.
Riftbound at a glance
Players fight over battlefields of Runeterra. Conquering a battlefield scores a point, and every turn you hold it scores another. You pay for cards with runes channelled from a separate rune deck, and your Legend sets the domains your deck can use.
