Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game (Cyberpunk 2077: Gra planszowa) is a cooperative tactical game by Go On Board, set in Night City from CD PROJEKT RED's video game. Players lead a crew of edgerunners through a campaign of gigs: breaking into corporate buildings, fighting Arasaka and Militech guards and getting out before time runs out. The standard edition is the complete game with hero miniatures, while enemies are cardboard tokens.

How it plays: real-time action, calm planning

Every mission alternates between two phases. In the action phase you play in real time: the app counts down while you take turns playing action cards, moving miniatures, hacking and shooting. Talking and helping each other is allowed, taking moves back is not. When time runs out, the untimed recovery phase follows: check your loot, prepare gear and plan the next push.

Each player controls one character with their own action deck. You can choose V (female or male version, with separate miniatures), Jackie, Judy or Panam. Cards come in four skill colours, and during missions you add quickhacks, cyberware, weapons and items crafted from loot.

Campaign, Afterlife and solo play

The rulebook teaches the game through three Prologue missions. Then the campaign begins: three storylines of three missions each (Lodołamacz, Labirynt and Niezniszczalny in the Polish edition) plus a finale, 13 missions including the Prologue. Along the way you face minotaurs, heavily armed combat mechs, take control of Militech's Basilisk and go up against Adam Smasher. Some components start locked and unlock as you progress. After the campaign you reset the game to its starting state and can play again.

Afterlife mode lets you replay completed missions, standalone gigs and contracts built with mission generators, so the game goes on after the campaign. There is also a solo mode in which you control one character under adjusted rules.

Standard or deluxe edition

Both editions contain the same game: the same cards, missions, tiles and characters. The deluxe edition adds 22 enemy miniatures in place of tokens. If gameplay is what matters to you, the standard edition is all you need.

Once the campaign is done, expansions bring new characters and missions: Edgerunners, Johnny Silverhand & NCPD and Trauma Team.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the app?
It is recommended, as it times the action phases and guides the campaign. Only one player needs to install it. The rulebook also covers playing without the app.

Can I play solo?
Yes, the game has a solo mode.

Do I need to know Cyberpunk 2077?
No. The story and characters come from the video game, but the rules and campaign assume no prior knowledge.

Can the campaign be replayed?
Yes. A sheet in the box lets you reset the game, and Afterlife mode offers missions outside the campaign.
