Amber and Emerald

The publisher describes Amber glimmers as patient and dedicated: leaders, healers and loyal followers, and Emerald glimmers as flexible and quick-thinking, never caught off guard. Together they make a deck where team players meet characters that react quickly to the opponent's moves.

Whispers in the Well: the tenth set

Whispers in the Well is Lorcana's tenth set: 204 new cards plus 18 frameless Epic cards, 18 Enchanted and 2 Iconic. Its stars are the Whispers, not-quite-formed glimmers summoned from torn pages of the Lorebook. The new mechanics are:

• Boost - once during your turn you pay the listed ink to put the top card of your deck facedown under this character, powering it up or triggering its abilities,
• Alert - the character can challenge as if it had Evasive.

Gargoyles and The Black Cauldron debut in Lorcana here, and characters from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow appear too, including the Headless Horseman and Ichabod Crane.

Who it is for

Whispers in the Well is in the current Core rotation, so the cards in this deck are legal in both Core and Infinity events. It is a good first deck for new players, as the playmat and rulebook guide you through the first game. For two players, add the Sapphire and Steel starter deck.

Lorcana rules in three sentences

In Lorcana you are an Illumineer summoning Disney characters from magical ink. Each turn you may put one inkable card into your inkwell and spend the ink to play cards from your hand. Characters gain lore by questing, and the game ends when someone reaches 20 lore.
