Nightmare Night is the third My Little Pony TCG booster set (BP03), built around Equestria's Halloween festival. The ponies are in costume, Pinkie Pie dresses up as a ghost and Princess Luna is among the rare cards. The shining GR※ cards also feature Star Swirl the Bearded, Shining Armor and Princess Cadance.
The set has a sweets mechanic of its own: cards with the Treat for you! ability and items such as Candy Bag put Treat tokens on characters, while the Nightmare Night Market and Nightmare Night Square scenes set up a festive fair. In all there are 190 card designs across 13 rarities.
Nightmare Night boosters hold 5 English-language cards. A single pack makes a good start or a small gift, while the 20-pack booster display (100 cards) suits players building around treats and collectors after the shining cards.
For a first game, the simplest option is a Friendships Begin starter deck expanded with Nightmare Night cards.
