Icons 2027 Star Wars
Icons 2027 Edition, the first Star Wars: Unlimited mini-set: 194 cards built around the saga's best-known characters and a way into the game for new and returning players.
Icons 2027
Icons 2027 Edition (set code IC27) is a new type of set for Star Wars: Unlimited. The publisher calls it a miniature "fourth set" in the yearly cycle: alongside the three regular expansions comes a smaller set focused on the saga's best-known characters and straightforward rules. It has 194 cards instead of 250+, brings no new mechanics, and only a handful of cards have complex abilities.
Every common is a reprint from an earlier set, some with new art. Some uncommons are reprints too, such as Grogu and Savage Opress. The other uncommons and every rare and legendary are new, and each rare and legendary is a unique unit featuring a fan favourite: Anakin Skywalker, Darth Sidious, Lando Calrissian, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Jar Jar Binks or the Millennium Falcon. The set has eight new leaders, including Darth Vader (Vigilance and Villainy) and Princess Leia (Cunning and Heroism).
Icons is meant as an entry point, but it is not a learning-only set: the new cards have power comparable to a regular expansion and are legal in Premier, reprints included, until the set rotates together with A Lawless Time, Ashes of the Empire and Homeworlds.
An Icons booster holds 9 cards: every pack has a rare or legendary, a Hyperspace common and a Hyperspace foil, and the leader slot has a 25% chance of a leader. That is why Icons packs are not designed for draft or sealed. The best place to start is the Starter Box with two 30-card decks, which teaches the game and deckbuilding over four games. The booster 4-pack adds an alternate-art Cassian Andor card found only in that product, and the 24-pack display is the box for collecting the set and building decks. Icons has no Spotlight Decks and no Carbonite packs.
