Roaches on the battlefield

Roaches are durable and tricky. The publisher calls them the perfect unit to break through an enemy line, or to get around it underground thanks to their burrowing. That durability makes them a solid front line for the Swarm's more fragile units.

The set also includes the Vile Roach and Corpser evolution variants, so you're not stuck with one squad type. The Ravager, the Swarm's living artillery, also evolves from the Roach: the publisher suggests fielding Ravagers behind a front line of Zerglings and Roaches that keeps the enemy busy.

What to pair Roaches with

The natural partner is the Ravager Expansion Set. Playing Zagara's army, you can use the Reactive Tissue Creep card from her box, which gives units on creep a bonus to evade attacks; the publisher recommends it precisely to keep Roaches alive. For your core Zerg army, start with the Zerg Starter Set.
