The Stalker's role in a Protoss army
The fall of Aiur taught the Nerazim that stealth alone would not beat the Zerg. So they built the Stalker: a metal walker controlled by the shadow essence of a Dark Templar. It is a ranged unit that can displace itself and reappear elsewhere, ideal for ambushes and fighting on its own terms.
According to the rulebook you can field a single Stalker (170 minerals, Supply 1) or a pair (270 minerals, Supply 2). The Fury of the Nerazim and Path of Shadows upgrades nod to their Dark Templar origins.
What to combine them with
Two Stalkers come in the regular Protoss Starter Set but not in the Founders Edition, so this set is the first pick for players who started with Artanis. They pair well with Zealots and Sentries, whose shields protect Stalkers against ranged fire.
