Star Wars Unlimited: Intro Battle - Hoth

Intro Battle: Hoth is a two-player learn-to-play set for Star Wars: Unlimited. Pick a side - the Rebellion with Leia Organa or the Empire with Darth Vader - and fight the Battle of Hoth with ready-made 50-card decks, with no packs to buy and no decks to build. The decks are ordered so that your first game teaches you the rules.

• 104 cards: two ready-made 50-card decks, each with a leader and a base
• a game board with labelled play zones
• a video tutorial made for this set
• 2 players, ages 12+, 15-30 minutes a game

What's in the Intro Battle: Hoth box

• 104 cards
• 6 reference cards
• game board
• rulebook and info sheet
• 57 damage counters
• 2 epic action counters
• initiative counter

In the publisher's card database every card has Special rarity and a single version, with no Hyperspace variants. The set is complete: you need nothing else to play.

Rebels vs Empire: the Battle of Hoth decks

The set recreates the Battle of Hoth: entrenched Rebel forces defend Echo Base from the invading Empire. The decks bring characters, creatures, speeders and starfighters from the battle and the events leading up to it.

• Leia Organa (Command and Heroism leader, Echo Caverns base) leads Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO and General Rieekan, among others. The deck also has the Millennium Falcon, Rogue Squadron Speeder, Rebellion Y-Wing, Tauntaun Mount and the Ion Cannon.
• Darth Vader (Aggression and Villainy leader, Forward Command Post base) commands General Veers and Admirals Piett and Ozzel. Ground Assault AT-AT, Blizzard Force AT-ST and Blizzard One take the ice, the Avenger and a Death Squadron Star Destroyer support from orbit, and a Rampaging Wampa is in the deck too.

Learn as you play

You do not shuffle the decks at first. You and your opponent follow a video tutorial made for this set (the link and a QR code are in the rulebook), which walks you through setup and the first turns. The Leia player puts I'll Cover For You and Trench Defender into resources and keeps Chewbacca, Rogue Squadron Speeder, Rebellion Y-Wing and Echo Coordinator in hand. The Vader player puts Ground Assault AT-AT and Target the Main Generator into resources and holds First Legion Trooper, Snowtrooper Vanguard, Lambda Shuttle and Admiral Piett. The video shows what to play first and which strategies that opens up, then the decisions are yours.

If you prefer reading, the rulebook has the full rules plus quick-reference pages for checking rules mid-game. The board lays out the zones used in every game: the ground arena, the space arena and each player's resource area, with short rules reminders.

Are these tournament decks?

The publisher says plainly that the Intro Battle: Hoth cards were designed for ease of learning rather than competitive strength. This is a box for learning the rules and playing at home. Several cards do return as reprints in the Icons 2027 set, including Han Solo, General Veers and Blizzard One, so familiar Hoth characters can also show up in decks built from packs. You will find the rest of the game in the Star Wars: Unlimited category.

What comes after Intro Battle

Intro Battle teaches the rules with ready-made decks. The next step is deckbuilding: the Icons 2027 Starter Box takes two players through four games and grows their decks with cards from preset packs, and its cards have the power of a regular set.
